Your First Visit to Our Denver Practice

New patients are warmly welcomed to our Denver chiropractic office.

On your first visit to West Lake Chiropractic, you will be introduced to the staff and a brief tour of our facility will be given.  You will then be asked to fill out important information regarding your current health condition and concerns.  You will also be asked to present your insurance card so that while you are busy filling out paperwork and preparing to meet Dr. Melling our staff can verify your coverage so that you will be fully aware of your financial responsibility before any services are performed.

X-rays are taken so Dr. Melling can see the Root of your condition.

Once completing your paperwork, which can be downloaded on this site to expedite your first visit, you will be shown a brief  7 minute video that explains more about chiropractic and how it may relate to your health concerns.  You will then be joined by Dr. Melling who will talk extensively about your health and will proceed with a thorough examination. X- Rays will then be performed of the areas of concern if Dr. Melling feels they are necessary.  Most patients will require x-rays of their spine in order to clearly delineate the ROOT of concern.  Unfortunately, not all conditions are obvious on the surface and require an in depth examination.  Some pain may seem to be spinal, but indeed that is not the case and may require a referral to another specialist.  Upon review of your X-rays and examination findings, Dr. Melling will make a referral to the appropriate doctor, if indeed chiropractic will not help your health concern.

On your initial visit you will watch a short video.

Recommendations are usually made upon the 2nd visit after the Chiropractor has time to thoroughly review your first visit findings.  In cases of emergency, Dr. Melling may initiate care immediately.  Every case is special.

The first visit will usually last about one hour. Click Here to see what the Second Visit looks like. Then once care is initiated a Regular Visit is anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes depending on the services you will require.

Dr. Melling Asks some important questions of interest to Denver residents - Chiropractor Denver Dr. Melling Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
